The following are conditions we treat that may cause elbow pain:
ULNAR COLLATERAL LIGAMENT INJURY (UCL)
A UCL injury may result after an affliction affecting the forearm and elbow. The ligament tear may occur to anyone who suffers a fail, although it is common in athletes who perform repetitive motions. UCL injuries are treated differently, depending on the extensiveness of the injury. Some forms of UCL injuries are treated by physical therapy, however, if there are no signs of improvement, surgical intervention may become necessary.
TENNIS ELBOW
Also known as lateral epicondylitis, Tennis Elbow is a common injury causing pain outside the elbow. Due to overuse or strain of the lateral muscles and tendons around the elbow connecting the bone to muscle.
OLECRANON BURSITIS
Olecranon Bursitis occurs when the small fluid sac, called bursa at the back of the elbow becomes inflamed. The subacromial bursa helps the motion of the rotator cuff in activities such as overhead work. The symptoms involve pain, swelling, and limited movement of the elbow.
ACUTE AND CHRONIC ELBOW PAIN
Elbow pain maybe classified as acute or chronic depending on the duration of the pain. Chronic elbow pain can be classified as pain lasting more than 6 months. The cause of elbow pain can include tendon tears, ligament sprains, fractures of the elbow, or trauma related injuries.
DISTAL BICEPS TENDON PARTIAL TEAR
A tear in the distal biceps tendon is likely to occur with a sudden injury. The tendon can tear in two ways. It can first partially tear but does not split the tendon, or it can completely tear and split the tendon into two separate pieces. Unlike other parts of the body, a torn tendon is not able to grow back and completely heal itself. Without resorting to surgery, tendon tears may be treated by regenerative medicine.
GOLFERS ELBOW
Also known as medial epicondylitis, Golfer’s Elbow is a common injury causing pain on the inner side of the elbow. The pain can be caused by overuse of the elbow or an injury. The pain is localized to the bump on the inside of the elbow but can also spread to the forearm and wrist.
OSTEOARTHRITIS OF THE ELBOW
The cartilage surface of the elbow can become worn out over time or due to an injury leading to osteoarthritis of the elbow joint. Symptoms usually involve pain and some loss in proper movement of the elbow.
ELBOW INJURIES
Elbow injuries can lead to symptoms such as pain, swelling, numbness, tingling, weakness, or decreased range of motion. Injuries can be due to sports, work, home activities or even falls.
